Woman comes across crocodile during a walk in Bavaria and alerts the police – but they can calm the lady down

It must have been a deceptively real dummy: On a walk in the woods, a woman from Bavaria reported a "crocodile" to the police.

Weidhausen near Coburg – The Lichtenfels police received a call of a somewhat more unusual kind on Sunday afternoon, May 28. During a walk in the forest, a woman discovered a crocodile. A patrol immediately got to the bottom of the animal emergency call – and was able to calm the lady down.

According to a press release from the Upper Franconia police headquarters on Wednesday, May 31, the lady was walking in a forest near Neuensorg, Coburg district, when she spotted a supposed crocodile. She alerted the police and was so excited and frightened that she could not give her location and was forwarded to the operations center in Bayreuth. From there, her cell phone was located and a patrol was notified.

This then actually found a four-meter-tall animal with a "wide open mouth in the middle of the forest" on site, it is said. But the officers were able to reassure the caller – the "crocodile" was a hard foam dummy that belongs to the archers of the Neuensorg Shooting Society.

According to the police, the archers of the shooting club will soon be holding a competition and have already set up various courses for this purpose. Accordingly, walkers in the area could encounter "grizzly bears, wolves and other animals" in the next few days, the press release concludes.
