It will continue until July 15 (and not until tomorrow, as announced two days ago) the interruption of the movement of trains on the Metaponto-Potenza railway line, in Basilicata, stopped "since the afternoon of June 2 due to a flood that affected the area between Campomaggiore and Salandra", between the provinces of Potenza and Matera. This was announced by the press office of the State Railways specifying that "the RFI technical teams, intervened to restore the route, near Vaglio Basilicata, in the province of Potenza, have found much greater damage caused by the abundant rainfall of recent days".
The interruption until July 15 was ordered "to allow - it is specified in the press release - the execution of maintenance work that had already been scheduled starting from June 12. The interventions will concern the reconstruction of three bridges between Salandra and Ferrandina and three others between Ferrandina and Metaponto".
In the same note it is also highlighted that "always from 12 June until 10 September the stations of Eboli, Baragiano and Bella Muro on the Battipaglia-Potenza line will also be affected by works. The interventions will improve the performance of the railway infrastructure. In particular, the Bella Muro station will be made more accessible thanks to the removal of architectural barriers, the construction of underpasses, tactile paths and the raising of sidewalks according to European standards. Overall, 150 technicians will be employed between RFI staff and contractors".
