"We are having trouble with your billing information ... Please update your information using this form below. Be careful if you receive an email of this type from an email address assigned to Netflix. It is possibly a phishing attempt. The recent decision to end account sharing with a person who is not part of the subscriber's household is an opportunity for cybercriminals to multiply attacks, UFC-Que-Choisir warned Monday.

The consumer association shared a photo of the fraudulent email. It's titled "Refresh your billing information" and impersonates Netflix. "If you click, you don't land on the platform's website but on an illegal page. The information requested (identifiers, bank details, identity, etc.) will be stolen from you and may be used for dishonest purposes (theft of money, identity theft ...) " warns UFC-Que-Choisir.

This type of fraudulent email attributed to Netlfix is circulating at the moment, alert UFC-Que-Choisir.

How to react if you receive this email

If you receive this message, check the sender first. "A glance at the email address shows that it has no connection to the company," says the consumer association, which adds that the few spelling mistakes also make it possible to determine that it is a scam. UFC-Que-Choisir indicates that you must throw the email directly in the trash and block the sender.

If you have ever been trapped and you have clicked on the form, here is the procedure to follow: "Oppose on your credit card" then "file a complaint with the police station to recover the money possibly stolen and report the mischief on cybermalveillance.gouv.fr", details the association.

For its part, Netflix also broadcast an alert on its site and recalls that it never asks for credit card numbers or password by SMS or email.
