An illegal race between four horsepower splendors on the A8 triggered a serious accident at the Munich-South motorway junction on Thursday night.

Brunnthal - On June 1 at around 22 p.m., according to the police report, at least four high-powered vehicles were racing on the A8 out of town. According to witnesses, the four raced along the highway at speeds over 200 kilometers per hour. Other road users were overtaken on the right and pushed aside with headlights flashing.

21-year-old in Audi A3 crashes into uninvolved car

In the area of the Munich South motorway junction, the inevitable happened: A 21-year-old race participant with his Audi A3 was about to overtake the Audi A1 of a couple from Bad Aibling on the right when a Mercedes E-Class shot past him on the right at an even higher speed. Due to his massive speed, the young man from Munich no longer had a chance to keep his vehicle under control.

First responders in front of a debris field of vehicle parts

Despite emergency braking and evasive manoeuvres, he crashed into the A1, causing his car to skid and come to a halt across the two vehicles. The first responders were presented with a debris field of vehicle parts. In view of this, it seems like a miracle that none of those involved in the accident were injured. The 60-year-old driver of the A1 and his 53-year-old wife got away with the fright.

Highway closed for one hour for salvage and cleaning

The resulting property damage is estimated at around 40,000 euros. The highway had to be completely closed for salvage and cleaning for about one hour. The Holzkirchen motorway maintenance department was on site here.

Police are urgently looking for witnesses

Of the other traffic hooligans, unfortunately, it is only known that it was a black Mercedes E-Class, a golden Audi A6 and a white BMW X5. Witnesses and other injured parties (coercion or similar) are therefore urgently asked to contact the Holzkirchen motorway police on 08024/9073-0.
