The plague of violence in Israeli society: An 18-year-old boy beat another boy for trying to kiss his girlfriend, after the latter alerted his father - he hit the father on the head with tools. In recent days, an indictment was filed against him and a request for remand until the end of the proceedings.
According to the indictment, filed by the Lowland Detention Branch Prosecution Unit, the complainant (17) worked with a girl his age in a banquet hall. At the end of the work day, when they returned together, he tried to kiss the girl, the girl refused and told him that she was in a relationship with another.
The girl told about the incident to her partner, who came the next day to the banquet hall and confronted the boy: he grabbed his neck tightly, and pulled him. One of the employees noticed this and separated them. The spouse then threatened the boy: "Stop talking to my girlfriend, I'll wait for you in Ramle. I'll beat you and it won't end well."
The boy, fearing for his safety, called his father and brother to pick him up, and when they arrived, the couple attacked them with a pipe wrench and fled in his car. The father sustained injuries to his head and nose and was taken to hospital, where he had to remain hospitalized due to his injuries.
The arrest request stated that the nature of the assault required the arrest of the accused. "There is no prior acquaintance between the defendant and the boy or his father, a fact which strengthens the grounds for arrest of a dangerous type. So is the fact that the respondent came armed with a knife as well as a wrench and attacked the victim causing injuries to his head," the application states.
