These days, singer Narkis stars on the screen in the glittering reality show "Dancing with the Stars", where she poses on the dance floor alongside dancer Michelle Riaboi, in the second female pairing in reality history (the first was in 2010 in the sixth season when sports broadcaster Gili Shem Tov teamed up with dancer Dorit Milman) and the first for religious reasons.
On Sunday, she shared with her 60,<> Instagram followers some insights about religion and beauty, which followed questions she was asked backstage as she prepared on set.
"A day of filming. Makeup, hair. In general, you are very invested in your visibility. Doesn't that go against the religious issue a bit?" asked Narkis by the interviewer about the great investment in her appearance and how it fits in with being religious.
A religious woman should not invest less in beauty
"They always think that a religious woman is less beautiful, less invested," she replied with a sigh of laughter, explaining that although beauty really needs to come first from a place of inwardness, after working on the internal, the external is no less important.
The interviewer went on to ask Narkis why she thinks her posts about beauty are so defiant to people. "There is such a matter that a religious woman needs less to show her external beauty," she replied, explaining that the external cannot impose on the internal. "If you don't feel beautiful and whole inside, then the whole exterior will look like a mask," she said.
"I do hard and crazy inner work," she shared on her way of combining the worlds, "so beauty becomes something extra. That's not the case," she stressed. "I do emotional work once a week. I go inside and meet the cute little girl I used to be," she added, sharing about the unique emotional process she makes sure to conduct with and in front of herself.

"I didn't always have a positive body image," she revealed. "Curly and black hair. It wasn't the beauty model once. Today that has changed. Because I am working on inner beauty, now I allow myself to celebrate outer beauty. I work in it and invest in it," she said.
Towards the end of the video, Narkis insisted on clarifying that the issue of beauty and grooming is even more important precisely because she is religious. "You represent God, this world that has several layers and valleys," she explained. "It seems to me from my special connection with Hashem that G-d wants us to be as beautiful and well-groomed and self-respecting as possible and as happy as possible for what He has given us. I'm also in favor of refurbishing what's needed," she said. "If someone feels uncomfortable with something on the outside, refine it. Of course without exaggerations and of course not to be another character now. God wants us beautiful," she concluded.
