The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Monday extended by two days the detention of Bar Shammai, 18, and Yitzhak Luria, 19, the suspects in the murder of 15-year-old Shalev Aflalo on New Year's Eve. Aflalo was allegedly murdered while the suspects allegedly staged it as a car accident.

During the hearing, the police representative noted that this was a "not simple, with not simple involved." According to him, Bar Shammai, whom he called a "liar" and "very manipulative," maintained his right to remain silent at the beginning of his interrogation until last night he gave his version for the first time, but he claims that this version is inconsistent with the investigation's findings.

In Shammai's version, he admitted to saying "give gas" in one word or another to Chen Ziv, the driver of the offending vehicle who is still in custody. But in other words. His testimony is consistent with the police's version, presented at a previous hearing, according to which Bar Shamai was not asleep while sitting in the passenger seat of the car, but took an active part in the ramming.

Shammai's lawyer, George Helou, said police could not claim that Bar Shamai and Chen Ziv planned a murder in advance because they were traveling spontaneously with a woman they knew who owns the vehicle. "My client gave a version yesterday that reflects the truth surrounding the incident and its circumstances. The police are doing everything to refute his version, but I hope that soon he will be released home."

The police investigation indicates that Luria Ben David is the "architect" who planned and orchestrated the various actions that led to Aflalo's murder. According to the police, a cousin was present at the scene at the time of the murder, and after the ramming threatened various witnesses and briefed them on how to react and express themselves.

Luria Ben David's lawyer, Tal Litan, also criticized the police investigation. "All the allegations against Ben that have been presented to date are based on what they could see from the security cameras," Litan said. "The suspect claims that he was at the time of the ramming in the club, so they should bring the footage. They have recordings - to expose them. They claim that the event was planned, so they should present the evidence at the end of two weeks."

Talia, Shalev Aflalo's twin sister, told Walla!: "I'm nervous. My fear is that they will be released and that they won't get the punishment they deserve. I sincerely hope that the judge will make the right decision, extend their detention, and ultimately impose on them the punishment they deserve. A child was murdered here, not a stray cat."
