Highlights: The Supreme Court has ruled against the candidacy of the current governor of the province of San Juan. The election will be held on July 2. The winner will be decided by a vote of the residents of the city. The current governor has been in office since 2011. The previous election was held in April 2013 and the result was a victory for the incumbent. The new candidate will be the son of a former mayor of the same city, who was also running for re-election. He is the son-in-law of the former mayor, who is also a candidate.

Days ago the highest court of Justice had ruled against the current provincial governor by affirming that his candidacy was unconstitutional.

Not qualified by the Supreme Court to seek a new term as governor, Sergio Uñac announced that his brother, Rubén Uñac, will be the candidate for governor of San Juan on the official list of Vamos San Juan, as Clarín was able to confirm.

Last Thursday, the highest court ruled against Uñac by stating that his candidacy was unconstitutional.

Weeks earlier, the Court had suspended the election for the governor category, scheduled for May 14, when only legislative and municipal positions were elected.

After the intervention of the Justice and the disqualification of the re-election of the governor, in San Juan will be voted on July 2. Instead, Uñac's brother who is a national senator will be on the ballot.

Senator Rubén Uñac will be the official candidate for governor of San Juan.
