A royal silence, lush vegetation, a breathtaking view of the canal from Nantes to Brest (or rather the other way around) and about 2.5 hectares of peaceful spaces dedicated to outdoor living. Camping de la Pointe, located in the discreet town of Saint-Coulitz, on the edge of Châteaulin (Finistère), already has everything to please. An extra hint of butter on the kouign amann, it has just received a nice distinction from the leading platform for outdoor accommodation reservations in Europe, Pitchup.com.

In its ranking of outdoor establishments by region, recently unveiled for the year 2022, Camping de la Pointe climbs to the top of the best ratings by campers. With a more than excellent score of 9.7 out of 10, this original campsite ticks all the boxes of holiday requests: location, value for money, quality of accommodation, activities, cleanliness. In a statement, the Pitchup team praises "a beautiful garden bordered by woods, a spectacular view of the canal from Nantes to Brest, spacious pitches", and particularly notes, based on customer feedback, "the friendliness of the hosts".

There are still places for this summer

The hosts are Vikki and Mike Pierce, a British couple from the south-east of England (Devon), where she was a nurse and he a carpenter, specializing in the construction of wooden houses. "We fell in love with this place," says Vikki. We bought the property in 2018. We were camping, but we obviously never managed one! Despite everything, they decided, their children already grown, to change their lives and get started.

After a somewhat complicated Covid period, they continued to improve this large natural space, and to use their know-how. The campsite now has about sixty pitches, three "pods", small wooden structures ideal for a couple, with an advance that can be terraced, and a family chalet of 20 m2. "We are delighted with this distinction," continues Vikki. Especially since there are only two of us to manage everything, and closed six months of the year, from October to April. For her, the most important thing is "the opinions of the people who have come here. It is thanks to them that we came first in the ranking and that we continue our activity here with pleasure. The proof, bookings are going even better since... Notice to nature lovers, there are still places for this summer!
