MKs Yitzhak Kreuzer and Limor Sun Har Melech of Otzma Yehudit are the coalition's two candidates for the Judicial Selection Committee, Walla has learned. However, one of them is expected to withdraw his candidacy later if they reach an agreement with the opposition in the president's residence. The opposition has not yet made a final decision on who will be its representative.

The move is intended to preserve for the coalition the possibility that two representatives will run for office if they do not reach an agreement in talks at the president's residence. This is despite the clarification by opposition leader Yair Lapid and the head of the state camp that a contest by two coalition representatives would lead to an explosion in the talks at the president's residence. The Likud clarified that no decision has been made, and one is expected to be made only next week.

About a week ago, talks on the legal revolution resumed at the president's residence, after several weeks of shuffling around without direct meetings between the coalition and opposition teams. The President's House is trying to create an outline that will bypass the main bone of contention between the parties, the Judicial Selection Committee, and allow the talks to continue while freezing the legal revolution for a defined period of time – until the Knesset's winter session or until next year.

The talks at the president's residence have been taking place for two months since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a freeze on the legal revolution. In recent weeks, the talks have taken place in person at other locations, and at their last meeting, the teams reconvened at the president's residence for separate meetings, lunch, followed by joint workshops for both teams.
