Tel Aviv Magistrate Court Judge Avital Amsalem today (Monday) extended for another three days the detention of Bar Shammai, who was in the vehicle that hit Shalev Aflalo last Rosh Hashanah, as well as the detention of Yitzhak Ben David.
The police noted at the hearing that Bar Shammai, who maintained his right to remain silent, began giving the first detailed version only yesterday, but according to the police, he was providing details that were inconsistent with other investigation findings. The police also noted at the hearing that clashes had taken place and that the vehicular incident had been reconstructed.

On New Year's Eve, Aflalo was run over, and about a week ago we revealed in Israel Hayom that the police suspect that this was a murder incident. The police claimed that as they investigate further, they discover that the incident was carried out in a planned and timely manner. According to the police, Shammai summoned and urged the driver of the vehicle to accelerate the vehicle and gave a report of locations, even telling him to "give gas."

Today, at the detention extension hearing, the police representative said that this was not a simple investigation and that it was not simple involved. The investigation is progressing well. As for Bar Shammai, from his first interrogation, he was lying. "He was interrogated multiple times, repeats the same version, minimizes his part in the acts, lies in interrogations, is very manipulative, when yesterday in a decision that is not clear to us, after receiving legal advice several times and this is his right, and after being exposed to all the evidence, among other things, apparently from his cellmates, he gave a version, which is also false. In the end, under one circumstance or another, he lied and in the same breath minimized his involvement."
The defense attorneys said, among other things: "The suspects are cooperating. There is the vehicle, there is a hit vehicle, it must be linked to this execution planning and not theories or thoughts." Judge Avital Amsalem did not accept the defense attorneys' request to release their client, but noted in her decision that even though the police claim that Shammai is lying, his version should still be examined.
