The new media adviser in the Prime Minister's Office, right-winger Gilad Zweig, on Monday disavowed his extreme remarks about US President Joe Biden, writing, "I was a private citizen when I wrote the tweets about President Biden. I do not hold these views today and I will act in a completely professional manner in the Prime Minister's Office."
Zweig was recently appointed as an additional communications adviser in the Prime Minister's Office in a position of trust. He previously worked as a reporter for Israel Hayom newspaper and last year worked for Channel 14. Zweig is considered close to Prime Minister Yair Netanyahu's son, and even broadcast with him in the past on Israel Radio.
His Twitter account has a slew of attacks on U.S. President Joe Biden, such as last July when he called him "incompetent" and a "dead horse," or in May 2021 when he tweeted that Biden was "slowly but surely, destroying America." After the US presidential election in November 2020, he shared and expressed support for several conspiracy theories about the theft of the election spread by supporters of former President Donald Trump.
