Two teenagers were killed in a shooting and four others were wounded at a party held at an empty house in Missouri, authorities said.
Deputies were called to the home in Columbia, about 125 miles (201 kilometers) east of Kansas City, early Sunday over reports of shots fired, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office in a statement.

Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were shot dead. Four other teens between the ages of 16 and 19 were shot with life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities had received several calls reporting the shooting shortly before 1 a.m. local time, indicating that several people had been hit by gunfire, according to the sheriff's office.

The shooting was triggered after a "verbal altercation between two opposing groups" occurred during a party being held at the empty residence attended by dozens of people, according to authorities. The verbal altercation escalated and shots were fired.
As of early Monday morning, no suspects in the deadly shooting had been arrested.
