A new mixed reality headset: VisionPro
If the announcement was not a surprise, it was still eagerly awaited by specialists and technology enthusiasts. Apple has therefore given more details about its new star product: a virtual and augmented reality headset, entitled VisionPro. "Mixing digital content with the real world will create new experiences, like we have never seen," said Tim Cook, the boss of Apple, before unveiling this "new revolutionary product". In a few months, future owners will be able to control this helmet, - in the shape of large black glasses - with their eyes, voice and gestures.
If users will be able to see their surroundings, their eyes will also be visible. This new tool, which will allow you to take photos and videos, will therefore be operational with Apple's classic applications, allowing you to work, watch movies (even in 3D) or scrutinize your conversations. They will also be able to go into parallel universes (meditative landscapes, personal videos, video games, videoconferences ...) and choose the degree of immersion. The brand is also partnering with Disney+ to offer content to watch on the headset. But at what cost? After presenting the different features of this jewel technology that will be available in early 2024, Apple unveiled the price: $ 3,499.
iOS 17, the new operating system update
The American company has also formalized the update of its operating system that will be available this fall, IOS 17. Among the big new features: emojis associated with contacts, a redesign of Imessage, the transcription of a call or a voice message in text, and a new answering machine on FaceTime to leave a video message to his interlocutor. Apple product users will be able to create stickers from a photo even more. Other innovations: automatic correction when writing a message has been improved thanks to AI and a new contact sharing mode - Name and Drop - will be available. Finally, an application as a diary will be created. More generally, the iPhone will be able to put itself in the "Stand by" position and will therefore only display the time and the possible alarm clock. Apple Watch owners will also see an update to their operating system: WatchOS 10.
A MacAir, an even bigger and thinner computer
Products much less new, but just as useful, Macbooks will know a new generation of MacAir computers. Whose screens will be larger, up to 15 inches against 13 currently. With a thickness of only 5 millimeters and a weight of 1.3 kg, they will be equipped with an optimized battery (18 hours of autonomy), a space audio system and an M2 chip. This will allow these machines to be twice fast and efficient. Regarding the price, these MacAir, which will be available next week, will oscillate between 1099 and 1299 dollars. As for the new Mac Pros, they will be equipped with an M2 ultra chip and will cost at least $ 6,999.
