"If I had been told one day that I would be interested in a journalist from the daily The Team, I would not have believed it!", says Carole Gaessler with humor at the press conference presenting "At the Citizen Games!". The journalist, who readily admits not to be a sports specialist, takes the lead of this new program dedicated to the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024.

A daily appointment until the start of the Games

The appointment will be scheduled daily, Monday to Friday, and should be broadcast around 20 p.m. on France 3. In 28 minutes, it will highlight the behind-the-scenes of the event that will take place in France from July 26 to August 11, 2024, until the launch of the competition. "The Games represent an exceptional challenge in terms of their importance and scope," explains Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, Director of Antennas and Programmes at France Télévisions. "We went to London to see our BBC counterparts to find out how they prepared for the London Olympics. The most important thing is to give momentum to the event and share this great moment with the nation. What better thing than to launch a daily show to give importance to the event? The show is aimed at those who are not spontaneously interested in sport and the Olympic Games. It's up to us to give them the desire. »

The show will be divided into three parts: "The soap opera of the Games" on the backstage of the event, "Histoire(s) de Jeux" in which sports journalist Alexandre Boyon will offer a dive into the archives to tell beautiful stories and finally "The ticking of the Games" on the challenges to be met before the opening of the event. Several personalities from the world of sport have agreed to participate in the show. Thus, Marie-José Pérec, Stéphane Diagana, Luc Abalo, Laure Manaudou, Théo Curin, Céline Dumerc and Sarah Ourahmoune will take turns every day on the set to bring their point of view. On Friday, in the "Theo the taxi" section, Théo Curin will share a car ride with a high-level athlete. The opportunity to discover athletes through a different prism.

"This project is a real challenge for me"

Carole Gaessler

For Carole Gaessler, this project represents a great challenge: "The Olympic Games are much more than sport and I hope to show day by day that it is a celebration that we will live together, a collective moment, a memory that we will build. This project is a real challenge for me. I'm not going to turn into a sports journalist but keep this generalist culture that I have and this taste for discovery. Sport is a world that I don't know much about, but what interests me are the emotions it provides."
