In North Rhine-Westphalia, the price of the Deutschlandticket will be greatly reduced from August – but not for everyone. Pupils in particular will benefit from the discount.
Cologne – Although the 49-euro ticket is valid nationwide, the federal states still do their own thing when it comes to special forms. In several regions, there are already discounted versions of the Deutschlandticket. These usually apply to groups with lower incomes, such as trainees or pupils. For the latter, there will soon be a discount on the new public transport subscription in NRW as well. From the coming school year 2023/2024, NRW municipalities will be able to offer the "Schülerticket" (VRS) or "Schokoticket" (VRR) for 29 euros, NRW Transport Minister Oliver Krischer announced at the state party conference of the Greens on Saturday (3 June).
24RHEIN reports which people in NRW will also be able to buy a cheaper Deutschlandticket in the future.
