Another of former allies of former President Donald Trump, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, made official on Tuesday his candidacy for the Republican Party nomination for the 2024 presidential elections.
Christie filed the official candidacy documents hours before a formal event where he will make the announcement.
This will be his second attempt to occupy the White House, after placing sixth in the New Hampshire primary in 2016. The former governor abandoned the battle for the Republican nomination that year and threw his support behind Trump.

Christie has become one of Trump's fervent critics and has censured that the former president did not recognize his defeat in the 2020 election to Joe Biden and spread unfounded claims about voter fraud.
