Big fright this Tuesday afternoon for passers-by and residents of the rue Aubouin in Clichy-la-Garenne (Hauts-de-Seine). It was around 16:15 p.m. when a violent detonation was heard throughout the area, even prompting some passers-by to take cover, as evidenced by some messages on social networks. In fact, it was a gas cylinder used on the construction site of a building that exploded. Sealing work was underway on a terrace.
A fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters. According to Patrice Pinard, assistant to safety in Clichy, a worker working on the site was slightly injured in the explosion. The neighborhood was cordoned off by the police, the prefecture of Hauts-de-Seine even advising for a time to go to the area via its Twitter account, and calling by the same channel not to spread false information on social networks. "We take all possible precautions as soon as there is an explosion or risk of explosion," says an official.
It must be said that gas explosions are one of the great fears of firefighters in the event of a fire. In May in Nanterre, for example, four firefighters were injured in the explosion of a gas cylinder during the fire of a pavilion and storage spaces located on the huge land of Groues where a new district is to emerge from the ground in the coming years.
The central laboratory of the prefecture of police went to Clichy, but it is unknown for the moment the exact causes of the explosion.
