The sentence for Claudio Foti, the psychotherapist involved in the investigation 'Angels and Demons' on alleged illicit custody in the Val d'Enza Reggiana, is overturned in the second instance. The Court of Appeal of Bologna has in fact acquitted him of all charges: for not having committed the act of abuse of office and because the fact does not exist from the crime of serious malicious injury. The acquittal on the charge of procedural fraud was also confirmed. At first instance in Reggio Emilia he was sentenced to four years. The founder of the non-profit organization Hansel & Gretel welcomed the sentence, which came after a long council chamber, with emotion.
"Truth and justice have won, after four years of pillory. I cried, the accusatory theorem cracked", commented the defendant at the reading of the sentence. Foti, founder of the Piedmontese non-profit organization 'Hansel & Gretel' was tried in abbreviation and was considered a key figure in the investigation of the Reggio Emilia Public Prosecutor's Office. "Foti was redeemed from four years of humiliation and persecution as a man and as a psychotherapist," said his lawyer, Luca Bauccio.
"The Attorney General's Office will read the reasons for the sentence and will assess whether there is room for an appeal to the Supreme Court. The accusation in the second degree was supported by the substitute pg Massimiliano Rossi and by the prosecutor Valentina Salvi, who had coordinated the investigations of the carabinieri of Reggio Emilia.
