The IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevy, held yesterday (Monday) an exercise of the "Gaash" Brigade as part of the General Staff exercise "Clenching Fist". The Chief of Staff visited the divisional command post together with the commanders of the Northern Command and the Ground Forces, and heard an operational review at the site about the planning of the exercise and the deployment of forces in the field from the commander of the "Gaash" Division.
After the review, the Chief of Staff met with fighters from the "Thunder" Battalion (334), who are taking part in the exercise. The Chief of Staff continued his visit to the Northern Command, where he toured the command pit and conducted an assessment of the situation of the exercise. In his speech to the soldiers practicing in the north, he said: "The attack in the 80th Division is a difficult event - we lost two fighters and a female fighter in an operational incident against a lone terrorist, against a lone terrorist, an Egyptian policeman, and the consequences are certainly harsh. Our job is to do everything so that this doesn't happen. Doing everything also means how we, the senior command, plan the missions and build the infrastructure around it. Doing it all means alert, alert, and look, we trust you very, very much. We have great battalions, you are doing an outstanding job, so are our battalions along the fixed borders - Cheetah, Caracal, the Jordan Lions, are doing an excellent job."

Chief of Staff Halevy's comments come against the backdrop of criticism that two of the fighters killed, Staff Sergeant Uri Yitzhak Illouz and Sergeant Lia Ben-Nun, were guarding a military post together in the middle of the night. Among other things, Channel 14 military commentator Hillel Biton Rosen said: "This too must be put on the table, a fighter and a female fighter alone, 12 hours, at night, in advance there is a damaged taste here." One of the commentators who attended the panel added: "In Butka one meter by one meter. There is a lack of professionalism here, there is disregard for the values of the army, there are crazy leftist agendas here. We're just afraid to say it, but it's all here and it's causing harm to soldiers."
