Peter Fischer (73) was a leading figure at the bowling club in Eberfing for over 50 years - even when he himself had long since given up bowling. Now he stepped into the second row. The chief post has remained in the family.
Eberfing – His name is closely associated with the sports bowling club (SKC) Gut Holz Eberfing: Peter Fischer, now 73, has accompanied the club, which was founded in 1971, from the very beginning – for over 50 years in decisive functions. Initially, he was the first sports manager of the SKC. Since 1981 he has been at the top as 1st chairman. When Fischer recently gave up his traditional post, an era came to an end at his club. However, the office of the 1st chairman remained in the family: it went to Fischer's son Martin.
Speaking of family: Peter Fischer tells us in an interview with the local newspaper that his grandson Korbinian (14) is now one of the young bowlers at SKC. This fills him with noticeable joy. The club's junior staff is generally important to Fischer. The 73-year-old finds it very pleasing that SKC has "a super youth". About ten to twelve junior bowlers come to the training, who are supervised by Hubert Resch and Helmut Schütz, he explains. In total, the bowling club has around 140 members: about 25 of them are active players with a player passport.

Quit the sport for health reasons
When asked about his own sporting commitment, Fischer says that he was only "mediocre" as a bowler. From 1967 to about 2005 he was one of the active members. About twelve years ago, he gave up the sport altogether for health reasons, but that did not prevent him from continuing to be intensively involved with the club.
The former scaffolder can look back on a wide range of activities during his long time at SKC: He organised anniversary celebrations and bowler balls, visited members at milestone birthdays, spoke at funerals and even served in the bowling alley when there was no catering there. In the case of disappointing sporting performances, he also stepped in as a "psychologist and pastor", according to son Martin. His father was virtually a "jack of all trades" in the club.

So it seems almost self-evident that Peter Fischer himself lent a hand when the new bowling alleys were built in the "Gasthof zur Post". In 2008, the four-lane facility was inaugurated. The athletes, who had previously played partly in Murnau (1st team) and partly in Eberfing (2nd and 3rd M.), had a common training and competition venue again after a long time. Fischer speaks gratefully about the cooperation with the municipality in the construction of the railways: "We actually got everything we wanted." A "top facility" has been created.
His wife Anneliese had Fischer's back
For Fischer, the beauty of bowling is that it is practiced in a team and is associated with a cross-generational get-together and excitement. The former chairman proudly reports that his club has also produced Bundesliga bowlers.
The pensioner remains loyal to the club. He is still interested in what happens during training sessions and games. The married father of two sons also holds an office at SKC: he is an assessor. His wife Anneliese has no interest in bowling, says Fischer. However, she had "put nothing in his way" in his activities in the club, but rather "had his back".
In total, Fischer has 100 years of volunteer work
If you add up the individual times, the 73-year-old has over 100 years in honorary positions. For 30 years he was a member of the Eberfinger municipal council (until 2014), over 25 years on the board of a hunting cooperative. He has largely resigned from his job as a part-time farmer. But as with the bowling club, he hasn't given up everything in this area either: Fischer still devotes himself to forest work and maintenance.
