2023-06-06T18:12:13.666Z

Highlights: Prince Harry is suing Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), which owns the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and The People. Harry's indictment includes that about 140 articles published between 1996 and 2010 contain information collected using unlawful methods. During cross-examination, Prince Harry could also unearth unpleasant memories of alcohol and drug use during his love affair with his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy. The last time a royal was cross-examined in court was in the 19th century. Up to two days are scheduled for the trial.

Prince Harry is under cross-examination for his media lawsuit and can also be sworn in. The late appearance of the Duke of Sussex caused irritation in the run-up.

London – Prince Harry's (38) stay in the UK is likely to last longer than the visit to the coronation of his father King Charles III (74) at the beginning of May. At that time, the 4th birthday of his son Archie gave rise to the short visit, this time the 2nd birth anniversary of his daughter Lilibet on June 4 made him too late for the court hearing in the British capital, to the annoyance of the judges. The first negotiations with Harry should have taken place on Monday. Judge Timothy Fancourt was surprised by the late appearance of the Duke of Sussex.

Prince Harry to be cross-examined over his media lawsuit

Prince Harry's indictment includes that about 140 articles published between 1996 and 2010 contain information collected using unlawful methods. Harry sued Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) for damages. He claims that the journalists obtained their research through phone hacking, deception, or the use of private detectives to obtain information.

The king's second-born had asked his lawyers to tell the court that he would not be able to appear for cross-examination with the MGN Group's lawyer until Tuesday. This is not an ideal start to negotiations if the other side can score points even before the hearing. Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) lawyer Andrew Green: "We did everything we could to act responsibly and not waste time in court," he said, according to The Sun. He continued: "Now we are going to waste time this afternoon."

Prince Harry's Defense

The attempt by Harry's lawyer David Sherborne to first play the ball back into the opposite field, his client belonged to a "different category" and it was "somewhat difficult" to bring him to court because of various travel and security precautions, was heard, but those involved were nevertheless irritated.

Sherborne, he had clarified: "He is in a different category than the three other plaintiffs because of his travel and security arrangements. Some other celebrities such as Elton John (76) and Liz Hurley (57) as well as Doreen Lawrence (70) are also suing the ANL (Associate Newspapers Limited).

At the High Court in London, a trial predicted to last at least seven weeks has been underway since May 10. Prince Harry is suing Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), which owns the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and The People. He is also involved in other cases: one against News Group Newspapers (NGN), which is part of a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation and publishes The Sun and The Sun on Sunday, and two against Associate Newspapers Limited (ANL), which owns the Daily Mail.

It is said that the love for childhood sweetheart Chelsy Davy was broken because of the media hype

Even without the reprimand, the appointment was classified as extremely unpleasant for the ex-royal and Californian by choice. During cross-examination, Prince Harry could also unearth unpleasant memories of alcohol and drug use during his love affair with his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy (37), all of which are aimed at questioning Harry's credibility. The father of two may dismiss them as youthful sins, but this makes him easier prey in the High Court.

For Harry's wife Meghan Markle (41), the spook is doubly unpleasant. She has to listen to Harry's old love whispers in faraway Montecito and has also summoned the spirits herself. When the king's second-born decided to sue, Meghan may have actively supported him. It remains to be seen how Prince Harry will fare in court today. He has already made history: The last time a royal was cross-examined was in the 19th century. Sources used: thesun.co.uk, mirror.co.uk
