Eure-et-Loir is one of the three pilot departments selected by the Ministry of the Interior for an experiment with dematerial.

The announcement by Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of the Interior, was made on Wednesday, May 17. The Rhône, Hauts-de-Seine and Eure-et-Loir have been selected to test, since Monday, May 21, the use of the dematerialized driving license. In the event of a check, motorists, holders of the new electronic identity card put into service in 2021 and who have agreed to be beta testers, will be able to present their "e-driving license", downloaded on their smartphone, to the police.

Pierre, a 51-year-old computer scientist, who travels every day between his home near Chartres and his workplace in Versailles (Yvelines), welcomes this experiment: "I do not always have my license on me, unlike my phone, which is systematically in my pocket," he says. "I've already found myself in a situation where I didn't have my licence or the papers for my vehicle. I was fined." He will therefore download the dematerialized version of his license on the mobile application France Identity.
