An armed confrontation between members of the Buenos Aires Police and two criminals ended with an unusual sequence: one of the thieves stole the patrol car and escaped at full speed. It happened in Ramos Mejía, La Matanza district. The mobile was found in the villa Carlos Gardel de Morón.

Everything happened around 15 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Colón and Acha streets, in the Lomas del Millón neighborhood of Ramos Mejía. Two agents arrived at that place alerted by a woman about the presence of two thieves who were stealing in the area.

The officers saw two suspects walking to whom they gave the alert voice and responded to the shots. There began the exchange of gunfire that ended with one of the robbers falling with a gunshot wound to the ankle. His accomplice managed to hide behind a parked car.

At one point, that criminal took advantage of the fact that both officers were out of the mobile and ran at full speed to get into the patrol car. He positioned himself on the driver's side, accelerated at full speed, and escaped. A security camera managed to capture the escape.

The vehicle was found minutes later in the Carlos Gardel neighborhood of El Palomar, Morón. The thief escaped by running through the halls.

The other injured offender was identified as 19-year-old Enzo Rodrigo Ortiz. He was arrested and found to have a criminal record.

The incident was labeled as "aggravated robbery by the use of a firearm and resistance to authority." The ordinary justice and internal affairs of the Ministry of Security of the Province of Buenos Aires intervene.

According to what could be reconstructed so far, the criminals had stolen minutes before a Renault Kangoo truck, which was 80 meters from the place where they were intercepted by the police.

Last week, a man resisted the theft of his truck and was shot dead in the back in Aldo Bonzi, La Matanza district.

Emilio Gabriel Ghezzi (55) reversed in his white Renault Kangoo truck when a red car stopped a few meters away. As soon as he got off to close the gate of his house, to go to work, three thieves approached him to rob him. The victim resisted the blows and while trying to run away, he was killed.

The homicide occurred at 7:40 a.m. at 600 Humahuaca Street. The sequence was recorded by a security camera. Ghezzi, who seconds earlier had said goodbye to his wife Beatriz, resisted the blows and, at one point, tried to run away. At that point, one of the robbers shot him in the back and knocked him unconscious on the ground. When the ambulance arrived, he was already dead.
