Another retirement at the top of the senior police command: Commissioner Nathan Bonza announced that he is ending his service in the Israel Police. Bonza headed the "Seef" division for fighting crime in Arab society.
Bonza is the 11th commissioner to retire from the police force since the formation of the government. The resignation comes against the backdrop of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's announcement of the future appointment of a projector to combat violence in the Arab sector. Since the beginning of the year, 92 people from the sector have been murdered.

Police sources said Bozna, 62, was retiring after passing retirement age. However, the resignation announcement comes a day after National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and the police commissioner announced their intention to appoint a project to deal with crime in the Arab sector. The announcement is perceived as a vote of no confidence in Bozna following the escalation in crime and murders in Arab society in recent months.
The CIF Division, headed by Bonza, is a staff division responsible for leading and directing police activity within Arab society, and its mission is to strengthen the sense of personal and community security.
The Division will be closed in the coming months, and its powers are expected to be divided between the Communities Division and the Investigations Division, which will assume responsibility for all operational activities.
The round of appointments is stuck
His retirement expands the round of appointments to the senior command staff, a round that is expected to take place soon. Senior police officials told Israel Hayom that the round was stalled following a disagreement between the minister and the commissioner over the identity of Mamz Tel Aviv's replacement, Ami Eshed.

Minister Ben-Gvir's preferred candidate is Commander Yoram Sofer, Commander of the Hof District, while the Police Commissioner, whose relations with Sofer and the current Commissioner Eshed, recommends appointing Border Police Commander Lt. Gen. Amir Cohen or Central District Commander Lt. Gen. Avi Biton.
