Highlights: At the foot of the Carmel ridge, the hotel has quite a few rooms suitable for couples and families with children. Unlike other hotels, the food is only a small part of the experience and the entire area is full of attractions. The highlight of this beautiful place is 12 suites, each with a private pool located on the room's balcony – just a few steps from the beach. In addition, on the grounds of the hotel is the Mizgaga Museum, an impressive stone building erected on the remains of a glass bottle factory.

For quite a few Israelis, a room with a private pool is a status symbol for a high-level vacation. The Israeli summer is upon us and we came to visit the Nahsholim Hotel, located on the beach (Dor Beach), at the foot of the Carmel ridge. The hotel has quite a few room types, even those that allow a relatively cheap vacation, with the children – especially now that they are going on vacation. But the highlight of this beautiful place is 12 suites, each with a private pool located on the room's balcony – just a few steps from the beach.

Unlike other hotels, the hotel room, food and service are only part of the experience. The surroundings of the hotel and the entire area are full of attractions suitable for the whole family. On the one hand are romantic spots suitable for opening a bottle of wine at sunset, restaurants with fine food but also water sports that teenagers love.

How much does it cost us? So as mentioned the hotel offers a variety of rooms, a suite with pool for a couple at the beginning of June (midweek) will cost you 1,496 NIS per night, a family room for two adults and two children (without a pool) will cost 1,316 NIS per night. A double room will cost 727 NIS – all prices include breakfast.

You'll pay the higher prices at the end of July, when all kindergarten and school students go on vacation and summer vacation school ends. For example, two nights (July 26-28) will cost a family of four NIS 4,3 (including breakfast). For a suite with 060 double bed and a private pool, NIS 30,1 is paid for two nights (July 3-August 500).

For romantics: sunset trip, wine and cheese

The Nahsholim Hotel is in an excellent location, next to the Tel Dor Nature Reserve (which belongs to the Nature and Parks Authority). Thus you can embark on a circular route that begins and ends at Kibbutz Nahsholim and its surroundings. There is a rooftop there with spectacular views and a promenade. In the reserve itself you will find light blue lagoons, hidden islands, flocks of migrating birds and spectacular sunsets that make everything especially romantic.

A particularly romantic afternoon can be spent on the hiking and cycling trails. Our advice: prepare a bottle of wine and glasses ahead of time. The hotel is currently offering a picnic package in conjunction with Basher Fromagerie's deli. The hotel also provides bicycles and helmets, although pedaling can be challenging and dealing with mosquitoes can be challenging – so apply accordingly.

For the Culture Lover: A Tour of the Ein Hod Artists' Village

A short drive from the hotel lies the Ein Hod Artists' Village. In 1953, a group of artists settled in his homes and established an artists' village there, which is defined as a settlement for those engaged in various fields of art such as visual arts, music, literature and theater. Almost every house in it tells a story.

Our guide was named George and he offers an entertaining guided tour of the alleys of the village. During the tour (made by an actor) you can hear about the life, secrets and stories of this magical place. The paths and village houses are full of art You will also find the famous Janco Dada Museum, the Nisko Museum for ancient jukeboxes, the Ein Hod Gallery and more. The Carmelim Tourism Association works to promote the area and advertise it on the national level, and to improve the tourist experience.

In addition, on the grounds of the hotel is the Mizgaga Museum, it is housed in an impressive stone building erected on the remains of a glass bottle factory initiated by Baron Rothschild in 1891 to supply bottles for wineries in Israel. The place was abandoned for 85 years, but today it has temporary exhibitions of glass artists from Israel and around the world, as well as rich maritime archaeology – sculptures and objects used from the sea that teach about history.

For foodies: trolleys and specialty cafes

Coffee carts have recently become a strong trend that attracts crowds willing to stand for long minutes for coffee or dessert. In Bat Shlomo Colony, located on the southern edge of Mount Carmel and located a few minutes drive from the hotel, you will find the "Trak in the Colony" coffee cart. It's a fun place to start your vacation (if you have a few hours until the room is ready). The entire area is full of inviting seating areas in the green nature and with a menu consisting of local produce and fine ingredients.

A particularly impressive place we visited is the Bio Cafe, this is a café that is also a studio and gallery and was established in what used to be the kibbutz's garage. Its design is simply beautiful, pleasant and relaxing and among the plants and creations hanging on the walls you will also find a particularly delicious almond croissant and in general the place takes great pictures.

The hotel also offers a culinary tour of the Pardes Hanna culinary scene guided by Tali Eshhar Gottlieb (in which we did not have the chance to take part) and Nahsholim notes that hotel guests enjoy a discount on tours or can purchase a culinary package that includes the tour inside.

You can also do a dive or a refresher dive, photo: Noam (Dabol) Dvir

For Extreme Lovers: Water Sports

Recently the hotel launched the Nahsholim Water Sports Club, which offers a wide range of challenging water sports, where you will find sailing of various types (stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, wind, surfing), diving or freediving and you can also do a refresher or star dive (by prior arrangement).

During our visit to the hotel, the hosts tried to surprise and it is really hard to think about the "weak points" of the hotel, which is located within easy reach of the sea in one of the most beautiful areas in Israel. And still there is a note or two, first the private pools have no privacy, there is nothing separating them from the beach or their counterparts. The rooms are very cosy and spacious, beautiful but simple and could have been a bit more invested in their maintenance.

In addition, the hotel has 150 guest rooms and suites designed for couples and large families – so if you like more intimate vacations keep that in mind. The hotel does not have a spa and treatments can be booked into the rooms.
