Shannen Doherty has been battling breast cancer for almost eight years. A time in remission, the American actress, known for her roles in Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed, had revealed in 2019 that her disease had taken a dangerous turn due to metastases that had spread in her body. In 2020, on the set of "Good Morning America", she announced that her cancer has passed to stage 4, the most aggressive stage of the disease. "I'm paralyzed. I'm very scared," she said in tears, adding that she suffers from Crohn's disease.

Since the discovery of her cancer, Shannen Doherty has not ceased to publicize her fight in order to "uninhibit other patients". "I feel like I have more of a responsibility in my public life than I do in my acting life: to talk about cancer and maybe educate people more and let them know that people with stage 4 are very alive and very active." On Tuesday, she published on her Instagram account a video of her with the only message being the date of January 9, 2023.

The next day, the actress posted an explanatory message to accompany a new video showing her first radiotherapy session. A particularly traumatic experience. "On January 5, my CT scan showed metastases in my brain. Yesterday's video showed the process of adjusting the mask you wear during your brain radiation. On January 12, the first radiation session took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. I am lucky because I have great doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the incredible technicians in Cedars-Sinai. But this fear... The turmoil... The timing of all this... This is what cancer can look like," she wrote.
