Ellmau – Viewers will have to wait until 2024 for new episodes of "The Mountain Doctor" to finally flicker across the screens, but for the stars of the ZDF home series, life has long since returned to Ellmau and the surrounding villages. The filming for the 17th season is in full swing and Hans Sigl (53) shows how everyday life on the set works.

On the 28th day of shooting: Hans Sigl shares message from the "Bergdoktor" set with fans

Not much is known about the plot of the next "Mountain Doctor" season, but here and there the series stars have leaked a few details. It's supposed to be lighter and less dramatic – and Martin Gruber's old flirt Karin is also back in the game. On his Instagram profile, Hans Sigl regularly takes his fans to the set and shows what goes on behind the scenes of the hit series.

After presenting the "Starnacht am Neurieder See" with Barbara Schöneberger (49) at the weekend, Hans Sigl is now back in front of the camera as Martin Gruber. On the 28th day of filming, the Austrian-born actor shares a video message from the set, in which he fools around with two of his colleagues, gets his eyebrows plucked by a production assistant and then has to go back to the shoot. Despite such beautiful locations and a family atmosphere, even the "Bergdoktor" apparently likes to get hectic behind the scenes.

Hans Sigl's secret guest role in "Der Bergdoktor"

Since 2008, Hans Sigl has embodied the title hero Martin Gruber in "Der Bergdoktor". The exciting life of the country doctor inspires millions of loyal fans with every episode and has made his actor one of the biggest stars of the German television landscape. But what very few people know is that the role as Lisbeth Gruber's son is not Hans Sigl's first appearance as a mountain doctor. Ten years before he slipped into the white doctor's coat, he was already seen as a taxi driver in the popular series, which was still running on Sat.1 at the time and which focused on Gerhard Lippert, a completely different mountain doctor. Who knows – maybe one day an extra from the ZDF remake will be Hans Sigl's successor?

Bathrobe costume and outdoor shoot: Hans Sigl reports from the "Bergdoktor" set

Hans Sigl does not reveal what exactly is happening in the lives of the Grubers, but a short time later he presents himself in a bathrobe and explains: "We are currently trying out a new costume." The TV audience rarely gets to see the "Mountain Doctor" in such a look – it remains exciting to see what context this presentation will have in the new episodes. Meanwhile, in another shot, Martin Gruber's iconic green car is parked in front of an old barn – which looks like an outdoor mission for the country doctor.

Not only Hans Sigl reveals unique insights into everyday life during filming to "Bergdoktor" viewers, Thomas K. Katzmann, who works as an assistant director for the ZDF audience favorite, also shows a few first visual impressions of the new episodes on Instagram. Among other things, it shows the door sign of Martin Gruber's doctor's office – which should prove that he has probably put his plans to move to New York on hold for the time being and is practicing again at the Wilder Kaiser. Meanwhile, for the 17th season, the "Mountain Doctor" cast is getting a lot of growth. Sources used:Instagram; fuersie.de
