New blow for Huawei. Already banned from 5G equipment in Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden or the United Kingdom at the borders of Europe, the Chinese group could be the subject of an even more radical measure of coordinated ban at European level. According to the Financial Times, the issue is currently being debated in Brussels. Commission officials, starting with Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton, believe that not enough member states are taking action to protect their infrastructure from risky suppliers such as Chinese mobile equipment maker, despite recommendations made in 2020. "This exposes the collective security of the European Union," Thierry Breton was quoted as saying at a meeting with European Union telecoms ministers last week.
