After the controversy that was generated around her statue, Mirtha Legrand said that she spoke with the mayor of Villa Cañás and, after that conversation, the sculpture was removed from the place where it was exhibited. "They took her out," he said at a news conference, and surprised everyone.
"I'll tell you: I spoke with the mayor, whose name is Norberto Gizzi, who is charming. Because this is on the occasion of the 121 years of the foundation of Villa Cañás. It's my brother and I and they didn't put Goldy, unfortunately, my sister," he revealed.
He added: "Then I told him: 'Look, Norberto, the statue is not good, as Marcela said, nor are the teeth mine.' Then he said, 'Well, Mirtha, we're going to get her out.' But I told him: 'Look, don't take it out, have it fixed because it's by a sculptor from Laboulaye, from Córdoba, who doesn't know me for sure. Give him a picture of me and have me come back with the picture because I didn't recognize myself.'"
"The idea is very good, I thank the Cañaseños very much, because they adore me and I adore them, it is a wonderful town," he closed.

How the controversy over the statue of Mirtha Legrand arose
Villa Cañás, the city where the diva was born in 1927, turned 121 years old. And to celebrate, as part of a series of celebrations, the municipality inaugurated two statues in tribute to her.
These are two works by the artist Daniel Melero, a native of the Cordovan city of Laboulaye, located in the local property of the city of Santa Fe that bears the name of the driver.

Mirtha was not present at the inauguration, but upon learning of the tribute she expressed all her satisfaction and joy at the size of recognition in her hometown, although she later changed her mind.
The artist explained to the newspaper La Voz del Interior about his work: "Two sculptures were made: one that is hyperrealistic, with its skin color, texture and natural hair, which as it is more delicate is inside the room; and the other that is made of metal with a bronze-colored patina that is outside."
Upon learning of the inauguration, Mirtha said in dialogue with the news site Primicias Ya: "They sent me photos from Cañaseños. There is José, my brother, who was also worshipped in Villa Cañás. It's very exciting and I'm extremely grateful for this tribute."

Although the diva regretted that they have not included her twin sister: "A pity that they did not put Goldy, she was always in contact with many members of Villa Cañás. The truth is that the three brothers were very cañaseños, but the most linked was our beloved José. Very emotional."
The first to criticize the sculpture was Marcela Tinayre in Polémica en el Bar (America, at 23.15), who said categorically: "It's a monster!"
"I'm going to ask my mother if she's aware of this thing that is a mamarracho... There is no love that pays this, a woman with one of the most beautiful faces on television, of life, that monster, "continued the daughter of the renowned host and actress.
And in that sense, he said: "Mom could never have approved such a ... It's not even hyperrealism, it's a monster. Mom has divine teeth. Look what that is... But who was it that did that?"
