Smoke fungus in the southern sky following IDF training (use under section 27A of the Copyright Law)
A mushroom of smoke appeared south of Kiryat Gat on Wednesday after a loud explosion was heard in the area. This was done during an IDF training exercise that took place there. However, the incident led the residents of the area, who did not know of its existence, to great panic and wonder what had happened.
Many residents reported hearing the explosion, and it could be seen from Netivot. "There was an explosion, I heard it from the house. Such a loud explosion, we didn't understand what happened," said one resident. "I suddenly saw a big mushroom of smoke, we didn't understand what it was," said another.
