Police custody was finally lifted Tuesday afternoon. A man in his forties, arrested Sunday in the middle of the evening in Villeneuve-le-Roi, while he was traveling with a 4-year-old girl, was released. The case was dismissed because of an "insufficiently serious offense", as specified by the Créteil prosecutor's office.
The mother of the family had given the alert around 20:30 by noting the disappearance of her 4-year-old daughter. The latter was playing in the garden, at the back of a building on Avenue de la République, with her 15-year-old older sister. This enclosed space is composed of a lawn and trees against the fence wall.
The man was drunk at the time of his arrest
The teenager then says that the neighbor had gone down to see them before leaving with the child to buy a pack of sweets. Immediately, the mother dials 17 and announces that her child has left with a neighbor without any authorization from him. A patrol rushes to the home as reinforcements are called to crisscross the area. The mother having the number of the suspect, the police call her. He picks up immediately and without being precise says he is parked with the child.
Finally, the police find him, arrest him and take the little girl to safety. The man was drunk at the time.
