Again garbage at the Moosacher Bad

2023-06-07T12:42:37.297Z

Highlights: Cigarette butts, bottle caps, plastic bags, campfire sites with stone surrounds in the neighboring farm meadows and much more are the remains of celebrations and bathing visits at the idyllically situated shore. The entire Steinsee with its shore and surroundings is located in the landscape conservation area. With the exception of the Steinsee family pool and the Moosacher Bad, it is therefore prohibited to enter the shore areas from both the lake and the land side. A single cigarette butt can contaminate a quantity of 1000 litres of water with nicotine.

Even in this rather cool spring with only a few warm and sunny days, there is already more and more garbage at the only freely accessible bathing place at the Steinsee in the southern district of Ebersberg, the so-called Moosacher Bad.

Moosach – . The Lower Nature Conservation Authority (UNB) at the district office is complaining about this. The same applies in and around the adjacent forest and meadow areas. Cigarette butts, bottle caps, plastic bags, campfire sites with stone surrounds in the neighboring farm meadows and much more are the remains of celebrations and bathing visits at the idyllically situated shore. "These legacies not only spoil the beautiful place and are a nuisance for all those who want to use the bathing place.

The garbage and debris are increasingly contaminating livestock feed and damaging farmers' harvesting machines," the UNB said. And further: "The undisturbed shore areas, which are important for nature, are severely impaired and disturbed by careless or even reckless trespassing or even storage. It is not without reason that these areas have been fenced off for years!". The entire Steinsee with its shore and surroundings is located in the landscape conservation area. With the exception of the Steinsee family pool and the Moosacher Bad, it is therefore prohibited to enter the shore areas from both the lake and the land side. There are special habitats for animals and plants here. They deserve special protection due to their beauty, biodiversity and peculiarity. In addition, they are valuable recreational areas and quiet zones, which can only be preserved in their substance through the special consideration of each individual.

Ecologically intact lakeshore areas with the upstream reed belts and floating leaf plants are an important prerequisite for maintaining good water quality. A single cigarette butt can contaminate a quantity of 1000 litres of water with nicotine and thus increasingly poisons the habitat of a wide variety of animals and plants and ultimately also of every single user of the Steinsee.

The UNB therefore once again makes an urgent appeal to the common sense of all bathers and those seeking recreation: "Do not park or camp in agricultural and forestry areas, please keep your dogs on a leash and dispose of their legacies exclusively in the waste containers provided. Get into conversation with your fellow citizens and play an active role in ensuring that the Moosacher Bad can be preserved as an open, free and clean bathing area. Mindfulness and respect for nature and fellow human beings guarantee a nice and relaxed bathing season 20 23." lra
