A helicopter of the Federal Police and a fire-fighting aircraft have been back in action since Wednesday afternoon at Jüterbog to fight forest fires. This was said by the head of the city's public order office, Christiane Lindner-Klopsch. There are also 90 emergency personnel on site and 25 vehicles.
Jüterbog - The fire was already fought from the air last week. The forest fire in the ammunition-contaminated area near Jüterbog has been going on since the middle of last week. In the course of Wednesday, the fire spread again, after the situation initially looked calm in the morning. "It's not a catastrophe yet, but there's a lot going on," said Lindner-Klopsch.
The affected forest fire area recently covered a total of around 326 hectares. A measuring drone should also rise again on Wednesday.
District fire chief Kai-Uwe Lohse from the district of Harz in Saxony-Anhalt said that the firefighting aircraft "Florian Harz 25" had taken off from Ballenstedt airfield in the Harz Mountains filled with water. In the meantime, the machine has repeatedly dropped water over the forest fire area on the former military training area. Just a week ago, the aircraft, which had only recently been stationed in the Harz Mountains, had its baptism of fire and its first mission at Jüterbog. Dpa
