On Tuesday evening, a new episode of "Veterinarian Dr. Mertens" was broadcast on ARD, while the documentary "Rossmann: The Insiders" was shown on ZDF. Which program got the better odds?

Leipzig/Mainz: On Tuesday evening, TV fans were once again spoilt for choice at primetime. The program had various things to offer. In the ARD, "Veterinarian Dr. Mertens" was again in action. On ZDF, on the other hand, viewers were able to take a look behind the scenes of the drugstore chain in the documentary "Rossmann: The Insiders".

"Veterinarian Dr. Mertens" on the road to success on ARD

A week ago, "Veterinarian Dr. Mertens" was able to prevail against "Pocher und Papa auf Reisen" on RTL in the ratings battle. The streak of success apparently does not want to break off: Also this week, the ARD program about the veterinarian comes up with great ratings.

As can be seen from the DWDL number center, the ARD has every reason to rejoice again. 4.21 million viewers tuned in to "Veterinarian Dr. Mertens", giving the station a rating of 17.9 percent of the total audience. The documentary "Rossmann: The Insiders", on the other hand, only interested 2.73 million viewers, which corresponds to a rate of 11.6 percent of the total audience.

Which number of spectators set the record in Germany?

On 13 July 2014, ARD made television history: the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina (1-0 a.e.t.) was watched by an estimated 34.65 million people on their own television sets. Crazy: People who watched the game at public viewing or in bars, for example, were not included in this count. The actual number is therefore likely to be considerably higher.

Among younger audiences, "Veterinarian Dr. Mertens" and the Rossmann documentary are almost on a par

In the target group of 14- to 49-year-olds, on the other hand, the situation is somewhat different. Among younger viewers, Elisabeth Lanz alias "Veterinarian Dr. Mertens" gets about 0.37 percent with 8.2 million viewers. According to DWDL, around 0.37 million people also tuned in to "Rossmann: The Insiders" – but ZDF did a little better with a rating of 8.3 percent.
