Rome - Pope Francis has to undergo a very urgent operation. On Wednesday afternoon, the head of the Catholic Church will be operated, as the Holy See announced.
Accordingly, a so-called laparotomy, i.e. the opening of the abdominal cavity, is carried out on Francis. It is said to be an intestinal operation. The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia and then results in a hospital stay of "several days".
According to a report by Repubblica, the operation will take place at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome. The Pope had already visited this on Tuesday.
