A schoolboy, harassed in a college in Bastia, was hospitalized after threatening to defenestrate himself at home, we learned this Wednesday, June 7 from the family and the prosecutor's office which has opened an investigation for school harassment.

The fifth-year-old and 13-year-old student was hospitalized this weekend and was released from the hospital earlier this week, but has not yet returned to his school, told AFP the father of the teenager who wishes to remain anonymous, confirming information from Corse-Matin.

"Throwing yourself out of the window to get it over with"

The little one came to tell me that he wanted to throw himself out of the window to get it over with," he added, still in shock. He filed a complaint for the harassment suffered by his son. Contacted by AFP, the Bastia prosecutor's office said it had opened an investigation for school bullying. The rectorate of Corsica specifies, in a statement, to have been "informed that the student had been hospitalized due to significant stress", ensuring that "there was no suicide attempt".

According to the father of the teenager, his son has been a victim of bullying in class since the beginning of the school year but also on social networks, via a Snapchat group created by students and dedicated to homework help on which were shared sound recordings, which AFP was able to listen to, in which the teenager is insulted. Threats of violence are also made in these recordings and montages of obscene photos made with the victim's face have been posted on this group.

As soon as the establishment and the rectorate were seized of the facts, the case was taken very seriously, "says the rectorate, specifying that "a report (..) was made to the public prosecutor of Bastia". The rectorate adds that "the students concerned were summoned" and "did not recognize the repetition of mockery, if not invectives following a missed shot during a football game". "A third student would have verbally attacked the schoolboy, not supporting the implication of his two classmates," he said, adding that "students suspected of harassment will pass in the coming days before the disciplinary board of the establishment."
