A bus driver of line 487 which connects Athis-Mons to Juvisy-sur-Orge (Essonne) was beaten and attacked with a knife Monday evening shortly after 19 p.m., in Athis-Mons, during his shift. He was hit in the shoulder and leg during an altercation on the public road with a man equipped with a scooter, says a police source, confirming information from Le Figaro.
The 27-year-old attacker is a Libyan national and is under an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). He was intoxicated at the time of the incident. This man already known to the police was first placed in custody at the Juvisy-sur-Orge police station. He was then taken to pre-trial detention pending the decision of the prefecture.
The weapon has not been found
Despite the presence of CCTV cameras that immortalized the scene, the weapon has not been found. Still according to Le Figaro, the bus driver, who was taken to the hospital of Juvisy-sur-Orge after the attack, did not wish to exercise his right of withdrawal. "I strongly condemn this physical, verbal and gratuitous violence that affects public service employees during their mission, reacts Mayor Jean-Jacques Grousseau (PS). This attack could have cost him his life. »
Last November, an argument between a bus driver and a passenger had already ended in hospital in Essonne. This time, the altercation took place in Chilly-Mazarin, on line 297 which connects Antony (Hauts-de-Seine) to Longjumeau. Before being hit at the eyebrow, the machinist had made a remark to a woman who had just forced her way to climb into the back with a stroller. The latter then called her spouse who went up to the next stop.
