Immigration was on the menu of the lunch that brought together the President of the Senate, Gérard Larcher, and the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, Wednesday, at the Luxembourg Palace. A tug-of-war has begun between the right and the government over this reform.
The Republicans (LR) propose two texts of "rupture" to provide the country with unprecedented means. The first draft constitutional law relates to France sovereignty, nationality, immigration and asylum. The second includes 56 measures to regain "control" of immigration, integration and asylum policy.

Ministers Darmanin and Dussopt revealed the content of their bill in November 2022, with the hope of being able to rally the LR, essential for a favorable vote in Parliament.
