Achziv Sea Nature Reserve has doubled tenfold, making it the largest marine reserve in Israel to date. The reserve, which opened on Tuesday, stretches seven kilometers from the Lebanese border to Nahariya.
Most of the reserve, which is under the supervision of the Nature and Parks Authority, is in the water, in order to allow fish and other animals to live there safely. The reserve, which existed in the area, was about one-tenth the size of the current reserve, and has now been opened to the public.

The reserve is located in Achziv, one of the most beautiful beaches in Israel that many bathers come to, as do divers, who come to it in order to enjoy what this area has to offer. The declaration of the new nature reserve is supposed to ensure a high level of water cleanliness in the area and regular supervision.
Monk seals and other animals that live in the area also come to the area. It is important to note that apart from small fish, life in the reserve has no direct contact with bathers. The larger animals are found mainly in the deeper regions, which reach a depth of 850 meters.
