Bremen – A 30-year-old man stole a long kebab knife from a snack bar in Neustadt in Bremen at around 6:2023 p.m. on Tuesday evening, June 21, 45, threatening passers-by and police officers on the Wilhelm Kaisen Bridge. Special forces overpowered him with the help of a taser.

According to the Bremen police, the 30-year-old grabbed the knife and grinder from a snack bar on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße in Bremen's Neustadt district and went with it in the direction of the city center. He apparently shouted indiscriminately at passers-by and threatened them with a kebab knife.

Threat on Wilhelm Kaisen Bridge: Cordon erected by police
The Bremen police located the man on the Wilhelm Kaisen Bridge and cordoned it off for the safety of passers-by and road traffic, according to a statement from the officials. They asked him several times to put down the knife. The 30-year-old became more and more aggressive and approached the police officers threateningly.
Special forces use tasers: 30-year-old slightly injured
The forces then drew their weapons and kept the man at a distance. According to their own statements, the police tried several times to talk to the man and calm him down. The Taser was used by requested special forces, whereupon the 30-year-old dropped the knife and he was arrested.
The 30-year-old man was slightly injured. Subsequently, he was temporarily placed in a psychiatric institution. Further investigations are ongoing.
