Following the recent terrorist attacks from northern Samaria, MK Zvi Sukkot asked Defense Minister Yoav Galant on Wednesday why the IDF is not launching an extensive operation in northern Samaria and why they are not returning the checkpoints that could have prevented a significant part of the attacks." Galant did not address a question about the extensive operation, but only about the checkpoints, and replied that the defense establishment chooses the priorities in the IDF's ongoing operations according to intelligence assessments.
Galant added: "The consideration of how to use dedicated force in the hands of the sector commander, for obvious reasons – if he sets up more checkpoints, he will not have the power to carry out preventive arrests, if he has to evacuate illegal elements from the Israeli side who make it difficult for him on the eve of the evening, he does not have the power to carry out any other activity."

Later, Gallant invited him to examine that all the murderers and perpetrators in the past six months have been in a cemetery or prison, except for the attack on the scythe, which is currently being worked on.
At the same time, MK Sukkot even said that yesterday he passed through the village of Huwara immediately after the shooting attack against a resident of Har Bracha, when it is highly likely that the return of the checkpoints would have prevented this attack as well.

In response, MK Sukkot said: "In the IDF's basic values, the first value is the defense of the security of the state, its citizens and residents. Why is the IDF busy evacuating outposts instead of protecting the lives of the residents of Samaria? When for a year and a half more than 80 shooting attacks have been carried out by terrorists in northern Samaria, the order of priorities must be different."
