On May 29, Eric Piolle, the EELV mayor of Grenoble, triggered a controversy by proposing to remove religious holidays from the calendar and replace them with secular holidays, linked to the Republic, the abolition of slavery or LGBT people. Some have not failed to point out the anticlerical character or even the simple negation of French history; Others recalled the naivety of such a process, already applied by the Republican calendar, with the failure that we know.
However, in the avalanche of criticism, no one seems to have taken the time to analyse the substance of this proposal, which says a lot about the ideology of the Greens. Certainly, there is in this media release a desire to make people talk at little cost, and to recall the anti-Christian position of the Greens, to better flatter those who hate the origins of culture...
