The same causes cause the same effects. After the state accounts for 2021 and 2022, the National Assembly on Tuesday rejected those of Social Security for 2022 because of a coalition of oppositions. However, this vote will not have much practical consequence. By 134 votes to 115, MPs refused to give "discharge" to the government for the execution of this budget. The Senate dominated by the right must now decide.
The Minister of Health, François Braun, defended, in vain, "a responsible trajectory", while his colleague at the Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal, called on the oppositions not to "sweep" a text "by automatism".
"Insincerity" vs. "media stunt"
But from the RN to LFI, the deputies pinned an "insincere" budget, having imposed "austerity". The elected LR distinguished themselves by deploring an insufficient "control" of the accounts. The Renaissance group deplored a "media coup" of the oppositions, but which "will not change anything in the daily lives of the French".
On the evening of the 14th day of mobilization against the pension reform, the rebellious David Guiraud promised: "we will contest line by line each of the texts of law that affects a hair of our Social Security and our pensions".
On Monday, the Assembly had rejected under the same conditions the draft laws of regulation of the state budget for 2021 and 2022.
This approval of past budgets was a mere accounting formality before. But it has turned into a headache in the new configuration of the Assembly, without an absolute majority since June 2022. On August 3 of last year, MPs rejected for the first time the 2021 settlement bill, unseen since 1833.
