The tarot, a complex and ancestral map of symbols composed of 78 cards, represents the universal archetypes and recounts the human experiences lived for centuries. The deck consists of 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana, the latter distributed in 14 cards of four suits: swords, clubs, cups and golds.

Like astrology, tarot can serve as a tool for self-knowledge. Thanks to its symbolic, allegorical and numerological dimension, it is possible to discover through a mathematical operation what your life arcane is according to your date of birth. That is why the renowned astrologer, author and tarot reader Beatriz Leveratto details to Clarín what this action is based on and what each card means in our lives.

In the words of the expert, the tarot "reminds us that we are expressions of consciousness of a great humanity with very similar experiences, we share common learnings for being incarnated on this Earth." For more than a decade Leveratto has been studying this symbolic and numerological language and now he has materialized it in a deck together with Editorial Kier, in which he reinterprets each card.

The images and concepts of the decks can reveal gifts about ourselves. After all, says Leveratto, the deck "shows our shared learnings on this path of life, its cards relate our human drama, help us interpret our destiny and better understand the purpose of our experiences to help us resignify them and avoid harmful choices or unnecessary repetitions."

How to discover your birth arcane according to the tarot

The tarot reader and author proposes to look at the tarot cards as "allies of our destiny". To do this, he says, we must focus on the first nine major arcana, which are "the fundamental guides" to discover which one corresponds to our birth.

Leveratto points out that if we want to know how to decipher the hidden message in our date of birth we only have to add each of the digits of the birth. Then, that result continues to add up until it is reduced to a single digit.

Let's look at it by means of an example. If we take June 27, 1986 as our date of birth, then we will do the following operation: 27 (day), 06 (month) and 1986 (year) is the base. So we add: 2 + 7 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 6 = 39. That result is reduced: 3 + 9 = 12. Later 1 + 2 = 3.

So if your date of birth is June 27, 1986, your life learning is associated with Arcanum number three: The Empress.

If your date of birth is equal to 1, your life arcane is The Magician.

"The Magician begins the tarot and confronts us with the paradox that every beginning in our life is full of illusions and spells," says Leveratto.

Among its main attributes the first arcane is the perfect illusionist and alchemist. The specialist says that by observing in detail the image of the card we can see that the figure has on the table the four suits -clubs, golds, cups and swords-, showing us that it is ready to perform an act of magic in any area that requires it. "This letter announces positive and rapid results. It denotes good luck and enthusiasm."

The word "enthusiasm" is transcendental. According to Leveratto: "The lives marked by The Magician must learn to deal with the complex paradox of perceiving that every beginning is loaded with spells." That is, these people must learn to maintain the projects and realize them when enthusiasm wanes over time.

"The Magician finds it easier to get excited about new dreams again than to sustain. This learning of life suggests learning to develop the gift of enthusiasm, words and adaptability but continue to sustain what has been initiated," he says.

The first arcane of the tarot is also characterized by its great intellectual capacity and the role of communicator and leader.

If your date of birth is equal to 2, your life arcane is La Papisa

The Pope, in this image according to the deck "New Tarot of Marseille Leveratto", speaks to us of the family and maternal energy. (Photo: illustration by Florencia Brizuela and Lucia Brizuela/Ed. Kier).

This card, also known as The Priestess, "shows the first woman of the tarot and gives her maximum ecclesiastical authority," says Leveratto, in clear opposition to the paternalism and machismo of organized religions.

The image, she adds, pays tribute to the power of feminine spirituality. "The Pope is sitting on her throne located between two columns that allude to a parenthesis of incarnate life, she guards the entrance to the wisdom of what is beyond worldly life," describes the tarot reader.

What's more, according to Leveratto, La Papisa represents the family energy and maternal essence that protects, nurtures, cares for others and accepts to be cared for.

The life learning that marks this arcane invites us to develop a more intuitive understanding of life, approach a deep knowledge of the family clan, connect with maternal love and perseverance. "They will deal with the complex paradox of learning to trust their intuition. They perceive the excessive competitiveness and hostility of the world and wonder why the selfish attitude seems to be accepted by the voracious culture of today's society, "says the tarot reader.

Therefore, the specialist warns that these people should avoid getting hooked on comparisons, but develop the courage to be compassionate and loving even though the world can be very hostile.

If your date of birth is equal to 3, your life arcane is The Empress

"This card arises from the union of the two previous cards, she is the daughter of El Mago and La Papisa, she understands and alchemizes the creativity and richness of the union of man and woman," says the tarot reader and astrologer.

The Empress emphasizes the sensuality of the body, the enjoyment of matter and the acceptance that they can be accepted as activating agents of abundance without guilt or shame. "The lives marked by this destination must discover and develop their great talent to create and enjoy," explains Leveratto.

On the other hand, people whose arcane is 3 should not be afraid to exploit and show their authenticity and peculiarities. To do this, they will have to work on recognizing themselves and not getting carried away by excessive expectations about their projects.

If they embrace this essence, Leveratto says, they will become drivers of originality and sources of loving abundance for themselves and others.

If your date of birth is equal to 4, your life arcane is The Emperor

The number four is the great organizer of the universe. "The 4 is present in the forms that organize and stabilize life: the cardinal points, the seasons of the year, the tarot suits, the astrological elements ... there are all 4," explains Leveratto.

Given this, the people governed by the letter of The Emperor face a duality: on the one hand, the desire for stability, security and fixity; on the other, the need to become an authority through avant-garde creativity to obtain multiple material resources.

The tarotista indicates that "life confronts them with having to generate their own projects even when the person generally prefers to stay in their comfort zone."

The proposal of The Emperor also consists of empathy and understanding towards the father's story, really embracing his humanity, without fighting against him or idealizing him.

If your date of birth is equal to 5, your life arcane is The Pope

Also called as the High Priest, the Pope has a learning to recognize and channel his power. These people "tend to confuse their power and, instead of using it to transform and improve things, they tend to be too questioning," says the tarot reader.

In constant movement, they do not always manage to stay in one place, something that is intensified by their strong vocation for growth and, in contrast, their reluctance to endanger their known and safe world.

In the words of Leveratto, people governed by this arcane face taboo topics and denied or unresolved situations in their environment. They use their courage to oppose injustices and communicate them, which can often generate fear of reprisals.

"The more you commit to a spiritual and transcendent life, the less fear you will feel of your own unfolding," he says.

If your date of birth is equal to 6, your life arcane is The Lovers.

The Lovers or The Lovers manifest what wanted to be repressed with the previous letter. "The image of this arcane shows a young man attracted by two women (or two emotions) who symbolize the new feelings that were intended to be repressed in the previous arcane: The Pope. This card highlights what is denied, suggests destinations where people will see a lot, perhaps too much, "explains the tarot reader.

The destiny that traces this arcane is that of the opening. In the words of the expert, "these people have come to push humanity to open the mind and heart, because with their own lives and examples they force us to acquire a conscience with less prejudice and cultivate a more loving and compassionate look, more integrated into the purposes of the soul (represented in the angel shown in this letter)".

Likewise, people governed by Arcanum VI are invited to develop courage to overcome their prejudices, their mission is also to become enablers of their own and others' human contradictions.

If your date of birth is equal to 7, your life arcane is The Chariot

"Pioneers and risk-takers," says Leveratto. The image of this card is more than eloquent: "We see a cart with two horses at full gallop that seem to be making a lot of noise, although when observing in detail the driver does not take the reins of the car," explains the tarot reader. In that sense, Leveratto offers the following interpretation: "Lives number seven always need to be in motion, to start walking and even make noise to be noticed."

But, within this incessant movement and push, the expert points out that those who are governed by this arcane deal with a strong contradiction: responding to an animal and instinctive need, at full gallop, and responding to the vertigo of knowing that perhaps they risked too much or ended up pushing situations that exceeded their personal capacity.

"This life learning proposes to trust in always moving forward to become increasingly autonomous and independent," advises the author and tarot reader.

If your date of birth is equal to 8, your life arcane is Justice

"The number 8 reproduces the sign of infinity and symbolizes the beginning of a karmic consciousness, helps to understand that everything returns and that every action generates consequences," says Leveratto.

The tarot reader explains that the lives marked by this arcane will work with the complex feeling of fulfilling what they consider right and dealing with the effort to put that into practice. "It will be essential that they learn to distribute obligations and tasks so as not to carry the full weight of responsibility alone," says the tarot reader.

To fulfill their purposes it is also crucial that they can communicate their desires in a conciliatory way, resisting the impulse to impose themselves. "In adulthood, these people are likely to take care of family issues, legal issues or unresolved emotional conflicts, as they seek to free the family," he adds.

If your date of birth is equal to 9, your life arcane is The Hermit

The image in this letter portrays an old sage, leaning on a cane, looking for something in his lonely path. "While others are fascinated by external stimuli, he turns inward in the hope of finding the deep meaning of our existence," explains Leveratto.

People ruled by this arcane are governed by the search for inner wisdom, illuminating corners that would otherwise remain in the shadows. The environment of The Hermit may value social visibility more and do not understand that these people disdain material achievements, preferring to develop a path towards the mysterious and the sacred.

The key will be to value and take advantage of their moments of solitude without fighting with those who classify it as strange or peculiar. For Leveratto: "These are lives that will have to develop courage to find themselves alone, without waiting for others to applaud them. They will be able to learn to tolerate silence, because the arcane asks to revalue introspection, solitude and humility."
