An Arab woman from the north was forced to flee Israel for fear that her family would harm her, after it was revealed that she had an affair with a married man. The man, a Jew from the north, presented himself, she claimed, as Muslim and divorced. Now, in light of the harsh reality she finds herself in, she is demanding six million shekels from him, his wife, his brother-in-law, the policeman, and the entire police.

The lawsuit filed by attorney Matan Lecker alleges, among other things, that during her stay at a shelter for women victims of violence, she was taken for interrogation at the Kiryat Shmona police station, where the brother-in-law of the unfaithful man conducted a "fictitious interrogation" while threatening, shouting and ignoring her health. Police records indicate that the interrogator was a different person, but there is no dispute that the brother of the betrayed woman served as a police officer at the same station, so it is also unclear why the sensitive interrogation took place at that station. The woman herself began volunteering at the same station about two and a half months ago.

The lawsuit alleges that "the plaintiff's life has been rocked like in a Hollywood movie, and these pages will never be able to explain her past." This is a woman in her forties, divorced and mother of children. After a failed marriage, she said, she divorced her husband, but they continued to live in the same house. She says that while working in a northern city, she developed an affair with a man who told her he was Muslim and divorced.

According to her version, he "swore to Muhammad" that he was Muslim and said that if she was interested, he would take her to Jaffa and show her where he lived as a child. When she found out that he was Jewish and married, she decided to break up with him. She did not know at the time, because her family already suspected her and were following her - and during the farewell meeting they ambushed opposite and beat her and her lover. As a result, she fled the village where she lived, and her family made it clear that "her head will be hanged in the village."

At that point, she said, the man's wife, now a volunteer with the Kiryat Shmona police, contacted her and called her dozens of times. She even came to her workplace and cursed her in front of those present. The woman later recorded a phone conversation between them, in which the mistress admitted to having sex with her husband. She apologized to the woman and said that had she known he was a married Jewish man, she would not have dated him. This call was circulated and reached her family, who subsequently sought to harm her again and were forced to flee and hide in a shelter for women victims of violence.

The lawsuit alleges that the wife of the unfaithful man sent her threats via SMS messages and her mental state deteriorated, and as a result, her physical condition worsened. According to her, following comments made in a phone call initiated by the man's wife, a police car was sent to the shelter and taken for interrogation at the Kiryat Shmona station, on suspicion of threats. According to the prosecution, she was humiliated on the way to the station, and according to her, the policeman in the patrol car handcuffed her while sitting on her and called her an "Arab f***ing girl." "This investigation changed her life forever," she said.

According to the lawsuit, the police investigator was the brother of the betrayed woman. He questioned the plaintiff about her relationship with his brother-in-law and accused her of "being a stinky piece of f***ing Arab", told her she was "rubbish" and that she had "broken up a family", while shouting and cursing and ignoring her request to bring her the medication she needed due to a kidney medical problem she suffered. Contrary to what was claimed, the police said that the investigation was not carried out by the officer who claimed to have interrogated her, but by two other investigators at different times.

At the end of that interrogation she was taken into custody at Kishon Detention Center and the next morning she was driven again to Kiryat Shmona. At a hearing in the city's Magistrate's Court, she was issued a restraining order against her ex-lover's wife and an order forbidding her to call her phone. From the court, she was returned to the shelter and when it became clear that her family had exposed the place, she was transferred to a shelter for women victims of violence in Ashdod.

After nearly three years, when her brother's fear for her life grew, she was forced to leave the country and move to Europe. "Her life was ruined," Attorney Lecker said. "She can't go back to Israel and meet her children. Her life is in danger, if she returns to Israel, she will be slaughtered." Abroad she lives alone, suffers from a difficult mental state, depression and anxiety. She was hospitalized several times for mental health treatment and injured herself. She has difficulty functioning, working and supporting herself, takes pills and undergoes psychiatric treatment. In the opinion of a psychiatrist it was determined that she suffers from a mental disability of 40%.

The lawsuit was filed in the Jerusalem District Court against the police, social services, the man who had an affair with her, his wife and his brother-in-law, the police investigator. The police said, "If a lawsuit is filed, we will respond to it as is customary in court and not in the media."
