The families of Kamel al-Talqat Ma'ar'ara and Muhammad al-Nassara from Taibeh, the two Israeli students studying in Jordan, who located Shalom Rotban and brought him home, met with Shalom and his family at their home in Kiryat Malachi on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Shalom's parents presented them with a certificate of appreciation and thanked them: "God sent you because you are good people."

Rotban was found just over a month ago walking on a road near Amman, and the Jordanian residents who found him brought him to a mental health hospital. There, Arab-Israeli volunteers realized he was Israeli and were able to contact his family. Rotban has been missing since May 2, 2021, and there was grave fear for his life. President Isaac Herzog handled the matter personally, and from the moment Rotban was found in Jordan, the president's residence worked with the Jordanian royal family to expedite and facilitate his return before the holiday and Shabbat.
In 2012, a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit a building in Kiryat Malachi, killing three friends of Shalom, who was only 13 at the time. He arrived at the scene first, even before the rescue forces, and saw his comrades killed. These scenes deeply affected him, and his family says that this normal child was severely burned by the sights he saw and has not remained the same since.
