A boy shoots police officers in Midvale, Utah
Two people were shot dead Wednesday night and five others were wounded in a shooting in Richmond Park in Virginia. The shooting occurred outside a hall at the University of Virginia, where graduation ceremonies were being held for high school graduates. Police arrested a suspect in the shooting, a 19-year-old boy, and transferred him for further questioning.
The two dead were an 18-year-old boy and a 36-year-old man. Among the injured were a 31-year-old man in critical condition and a 14-year-old boy along with three men expected to survive, according to the police chief. Amid the chaos ensued, a 9-year-old girl was hit by a car, and several other people were injured by falls and suffering from anxiety.
This incident joins a slew of shootings in the United States. Last month, four people were shot dead at several locations in Georgia, including a McDonald's. Local media reported that the second shooting scene was a private home near the branch.
The day before, a 24-year-old opened fire in the waiting room of a hospital in nearby Atlanta state. Police arrested the 24-year-old, who murdered a 38-year-old woman and injured four other women, three of whom were seriously injured. "The weapon has been seized and we will conduct tests," police said. They added that the circumstances of the shooting were still under investigation.
