What makes breasts "ideals"? Thanks to new research, now we will all know - voila! Sheee

Highlights: A study published in a plastic surgery journal determined the exact characteristics of the "ideal" pair of breasts in the eyes of the majority. The study comes as part of the plastic surgery craze that has reached an all-time high, thanks to Gen Z. The New York University researchers found that medium-sized breasts with more volume in their upper half scored higher than other breasts. Size and symmetry were not decisive factors, according to this survey. The researchers noted that the use of images may have interfered with participants' ability to "fully appreciate" certain aspects of breasts.

Most women are not entirely satisfied with the shape of their breasts, which is enough to make you consider surgery sometime. As if that wasn't enough, now they've also done research to determine the appearance of the "ideal" breast

It's unbelievable that money is spent on this, but that's the reality – a study published in a plastic surgery journal determined the exact characteristics of the "ideal" pair of breasts in the eyes of the majority. The study comes as part of the plastic surgery craze that has reached an all-time high, thanks to Gen Z, for which breast lifts and augmentations are some of its most common requests.

The New York University researchers found that medium-sized breasts with more volume in their upper half scored higher than other breasts. Size and symmetry were not decisive factors, according to this survey.

How did it go, you ask? Well, there wasn't a line-up of dozens of women standing like in an identification lineup with their outside, but photos of 25 pairs of breasts of women who were photographed before aesthetic or reconstructive breast surgery, between 2009 and 2019. The women were on average 47 years old.

A survey group of 1,021 participants, 52% of whom were women, was shown two-dimensional photographs and three-dimensional imaging of the breasts, and asked to assess overall "breast attractiveness." In surveying a large and diverse population, medium-sized breasts, with a fuller top, were associated with increased 'attractiveness' scores," the researchers wrote (upper polar fullness refers to the volume of breasts above the nipples).

Five pairs of breasts were rated as the most attractive – if most breasts received a score of 2.5 out of 5, the top five pairs had an average score of 3.1.

Researchers noted that these breasts had more contours, upper pole fullness, and the distance between the nipples was narrower, because the breasts were located closer together, so the distance from the nipple to the fold under the breast was shorter, and the two pictures that received the best score were not of symmetrical breasts.

The researchers noted that the use of images may have interfered with participants' ability to "fully appreciate" certain aspects of breasts, nor does the small group of patients fully represent the wide range of shapes and sizes of the breasts presented or the tastes and preferences of observers.

So we didn't understand - what did you do this research for?
