A bank that doesn't make money is a bank that doesn't lend." The speech of this mortgage broker is a little daring but illustrates how the market is blocked. Granting a loan to an individual is not profitable for banks today. Add to this the fact that more and more households are self-censoring, with rates approaching more and more than 4%. But they are not the only ones: even wealthy retirees can be struggling. Their situation is not as desperate as some young borrowers, who do not benefit, most of the time, from savings and/or contributions as high as their elders. But, as a sign of an unprecedented context, these lucky retirees may also be refused one or more times or have difficulty obtaining a loan.
